Choosing The Best Size For Your Photos In Clover Events

Sites created after September 2019

If you created your Anthem, August, Aurora, Bloom, Boulevard, Hope, Solstice, Voyage, or Zion site in September 2019 or later, or if you opt in to the new rules, or if you created a Dusk or Majesty site on any date, then the rules for photo sizes are as follows:

  • If you use the Anthem, August, Aurora, Bloom, Boulevard, Hope, Solstice, Voyage, or Zion designs, then event images will be cropped to a 4:3 aspect ratio

  • If you use the Dusk or Majesty designs, then event images will be cropped to a 16:9 aspect ratio

Sites created before September 2019 (except Majesty/Dusk)

If you created your Anthem, August, Aurora, Bloom, Boulevard, Hope, Solstice, Voyage, or Zion site before September 2019, then you will need to follow these steps!

  • In Greenhouse, enable Advanced Mode (upper left) if you haven’t already

  • Under Site Editor, click Design Settings

  • Under Tweak Design, check “Use 4:3 Event Image Aspect Ratio”

For Anthem, August, Aurora, Bloom, Boulevard, Hope, Solstice, Voyage, or Zion sites created before September 2019 who have not opted-in, the rules for picking a good event photo size are fuzzy.  4:3 is roughly acceptable for event lists and event grids, but event galleries could be either very square or rectangular depending on the device in use. We recommend you opt-in as well!
