Going Live with Network Solutions

Adding Your Domain to Your Dashboard

Before taking your site live, you will want to make sure that you add your domain name within the Greenhouse. You can follow these steps to do so:

Step 1 - Go to your Dashboard
Step 2 - Click the More Button (located under Edit Site)
Step 3 -  Click Domain Management
Step 4 - Click Add A Domain and then enter your domain yourdomain.com. *Note: Be sure when you enter your domain name to use lowercase letters. Using any uppercase letters may cause issues with your site going live.
Step 5 - Click Add Domain to save your domain name to your account.
Step 6 - Click Add A Domain again, and enter your domain name with www (ie www.yourdomain.com). This will help allow your site to pull up whether or not your users type www.yourdomain.com or yourdomain.com.
Step 7 - Click Add Domain to save your changes.

Once this has been completed, you can continue with pointing your domain by following the steps below.

Updating Your IP Address With Network Solutions

Step 1 -  At NetworkSolutions.com, click the Manage Account button and then enter your username and password

Step 2 - Under My Domain Names, click Edit DNS

Step 3 - You will be directed to a page where you manage your domains. In the middle of the page, you'll find a section titled Advanced DNS Manager. Click the Manage Advanced DNS Records button

If it says "Designated DNS" next to "Domain Currently Points To:", then you will need to change your name server addresses. You can do this right from this page. HOWEVER, this will also change all the other settings for your domain, which means that your email (MX) records will need to be set up again. You may want to stop and read our help article below .

Step 4 - Click Edit A Records

Step 5 - Check the 3 Delete boxes next to the www, @ (None), and * (All Others). You will then add a new record where the @ symbol is entered under Host. Enter the IP address 52.27.100.214 under Numeric IP. Add another A-record where the host is www, and point it to 52.27.100.214 as well. Click Continue at the bottom.

Step 6 - You will then confirm your changes by clicking Save Changes at the bottom

Keep in mind:

  • Although in most cases you should be able launch your website within an hour of changing the DNS settings, this process can take up to 24 hours. Test to see if you can launch your website after you follow these steps but remember it may not work right away. For more information on this process, check out our Trouble Launching Your Site article.

Changing Your Nameservers

Step 1 - Once you have clicked on My Domain Names, click Edit Advanced DNS Records

Step 2 - Click Move Name Servers to Network Solutions. This box will warn you about your service being interrupted. This is simply a review of what we said in the beginning of this help article. Once you click "OK", your records will appear within a few minutes

Step 3 - Once you've moved the Nameservers to Network Solutions, you'll be able to edit the A Record using the steps earlier in this article.
